It is Written

I am writing my story

My life’s story

As Autumn leaves

Dance in the wind

Morning shadows wake me alive

Stimulating my insides

Smells like lemongrass

And orange zest

I want to be alive

Songs play in my head

I know it’s my time

Like Sunday morning best

Feels like wearing a new skin

With each new page I’m turning

Leads to new beginnings

No I won’t waste time

Some have left me

But those were chapters

Meant to be closed

So my spirit could

Wake up, Rise Up and Grow

I am writing my story

Sentence, verse, paragraph and rhymes

Putting one foot in front of the other

Claiming what’s mine

Been a long time coming

Some chapters were hell

But lessons were learned

And old habits shed

Yes, I can Smile knowing

This chapter’s worth writing

This story must be told

Like the leaves dancing

In the wind

On a crisp fall day

One season is ending

As another begins

I feel it in the depth of my person

This is the chapter

My season for winning

No time to look back

Those pages are closed

I’m shedding that skin

Starting new feels good

Like brand new red shinny shoes

First tight then fits my groove

This is my story

I’ll write it my way

Some chapters were harder

Than others but I know this for sure

They were worth living

I’m so glad for today

I Am Writing my Story

And I’m doing it my own way
