Ain't My Fault

Ain't My Fault

© N Noël June 2011

It ain’t my fault

That Your understanding of self-esteem

Comes from between

Your legs instead of

What your daddy told you instead

Ain’t my fault because mine was around

Stop acting like my existence

Is what brings you down

Can’t blame someone who wasn’t there

Or get mad because you’re stuck

On the idea that beauty

Is about light skinned or Fair

Can’t you fathom the idea of complete

Ain’t my fault you keep

Throwing me your deceit

Sista I know, you don’t know better

But you working on getting your Ass beat

Ain’t my fault cause I walk around with pride

I know from where I’ve come

And where I’m going before I die

Say what you want I know and believe

Your words and stares don’t do nothing

But roll off this back with ease

"You think you’re all that”

That’s what you say

You better believe that my dear

Cause my peace comes from within

“You walk around like your shit don’t stink”

Apparently it doesn’t

But you think

What you want to think

Ain’t my fault my walk has a sway

These hips I’m carrying

Can make a man beg and cry

What you need is a lesson

In the term “Confidence”

From my feminine wise

Get it together

Don’t jump bad

Yeah I know my face is pretty

So don’t be fooled

I am not the one to play with

If you don’t want to be schooled

Ain’t my fault I’ve got self-esteem

Nor that my mind matches

My beauty, it’s called Good Genes

I’m not the one that’s holding you back

That’s your insecurities

And lack of pride

Maybe if you learned

To like yourself

That hate would subside

Ain’t my fault

And I will not be blamed

Don’t have time for your silly

Childlike games, get it together

It’s all on you

Leave my name off your lips

Like I said before

You can’t handle all this

Do you REALLY want

To challenge ME sis

Ain’t my fault

I walk with a head held high

If you were smart, you would try

To match my stride

I’m not the one

That’s holding you back

Such a shame you can’t see

That it all starts with inner beauty

Love yourself, all that is you

Maybe one day

You’ll get this fact

But seriously

All I know

Ain’t my Fault
